Order and Shipping Delays

Updated on Nov 24, 2024

Manufacturing a Genio roaster is a complex process that involves sourcing, processing, and assembling hundreds of individual components. While we strive to deliver on time, there are circumstances beyond our control that can cause delays. Understanding these challenges can help set realistic expectations and prepare for potential disruptions.

Understanding the Manufacturing Process

  • Procurement Complexity:
Manufacturing a roaster involves over 120 suppliers, each providing specialized components. These parts often undergo multiple processing stages before they are ready for assembly.

  • Example: Cooling Bin:

    1. Laser cut
    2. Metal spun in a process called metal spinning
    3. Machined
    4. Polished
    5. Anodized

Each step requires coordination with different suppliers, adding to the complexity of procurement.

  • Coordinating Components:
While assembling the roaster is straightforward, coordinating the delivery of all necessary components from numerous suppliers can be challenging.

Shipping and Logistics

  • Post-Manufacturing Process:
Once manufacturing is completed and the final payment is received, we begin the shipping process:

    1. Shipping Quotes: We obtain quotes and send them for your approval.
    2. Shipping Arrangements: Once approved, we arrange for shipping to begin.

This stage can introduce delays due to external factors. See our Shipping Documentation for more information.

  • Collaborative Effort:
The shipping process requires the collaboration of multiple departments and companies. To minimize disruptions, we partner with large, global shipping companies instead of smaller boutique firms, ensuring better reliability and efficiency.

Most Common Reasons for Delays

  1. Customer Payments:

    • By far the most common reason for delays is late customer payments.
    • Manufacturing time only starts when the deposit is received, not when the quote is accepted. A delay in paying the deposit can push back the timeline by weeks.
    • Final payments are often delayed due to customer financing issues or site readiness, which can trigger warehousing or order rollover clauses in severe cases.
  2. Customer Site Preparation:

    • The next most common delay is that of customer sites not being ready to accept their order.  This often invokes the rollover clause.
    • Ensure that your installation site is ready by planning ahead.
    • Consider shipping the machine regarless of your site's conndition.  Warehousing the order in your own country with a friend or temporary storage site is often cheaper than having Genio Roasters warehouse the order for you.
  3. Supply Chain Delays:

    • We source components from many countries, and international supply chains are prone to disruptions.
    • Events like regional conflicts can delay inbound shipments, requiring alternative suppliers or special shipping routes.
  4. Customization Delays:

    • Providing color and branding specifications often causes delays.
    • Customization delays impact multiple components and processes, creating a knock-on effect on the manufacturing timeline.
  5. Shipping Delays:

    • Outbound shipping may be delayed due to factors like port congestion, adverse weather, regional conflicts, or the availability of shipping containers.
  6. Economies of Scale:

    • Genio relies on economies of scale to keep costs low. Occasionally, we need to wait to place MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) orders, though our production planning minimizes this impact.

Our Commitment

At Genio Roasters, we value transparency and efficiency. While delays are sometimes inevitable in a process as intricate as roaster manufacturing and shipping, we strive to minimize their impact on your order. Rest assured, we are dedicated to delivering your roaster as quickly as possible without compromising on quality.
