Gas Setup

Updated on Nov 24, 2024

A proper gas setup is essential for the efficient and safe operation of your roaster. By planning ahead and adhering to technical requirements, you can ensure smooth roasting and avoid costly interruptions.

Key Points

  • Pressure Requirements:
Genio machines come with a low-pressure regulator and can accept high-pressure gas supplies (1-5 bar). Consult your technical documentation for exact specifications.

  • Gas Type:
Machines are configured for LPG by default, but Natural Gas conversions are available upon request. Switching between LPG and Natural Gas later may require additional components and will require a qualified gas installer.

  • Cylinders and Switchover:
Use at least 2 gas cylinders connected through a manifold for rapid switchover to avoid interruptions during roasting.  If a cylinder runs empty and you do not have a switchoever option, you will loose the roast.

  • Safety and Equipment:

    • Install a shutoff valve near the roaster.
    • Ensure gas pipes are of sufficient diameter, especially if the supply is far from the roaster.
    • Consider optional add-ons like a Gas Bottle Level Monitor, Automatic Changeover Device, or Pressure Gauge to improve safety and convenience.
  • Gas Quality:
Order gas from reputable suppliers to avoid contaminants like rust, oil, or debris that can damage your roaster’s components.

  • Propane vs. LPG:
Pure propane offers consistent combustion temperatures, avoiding seasonal variations and separation issues with LPG. While propane may cost more, it ensures reliable performance.

  • Safe Practices:
Open gas bottle valves slowly to prevent pressure surges that could damage the regulator or gas valve.

Summary

Preparing your gas setup ahead of time ensures smooth operation and reduces the risk of interruptions or damage. Consult a licensed gas installer and follow all safety guidelines for compliance and peace of mind.
